Magellan RoadMate 1412 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator Review
Magellan RoadMate 1412 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator Review from Edward Bourgeois Jr BrudaEd. Even Better Than I Imagined!, I am very satisified with the performance on my Roadmate. The TomTom One XL performed well but the only way to update it was to use the TomTom Home program. I couldn’t open the TomTom Home program after numerous downloads and three rounds of instructions with customer service by phone. The Garmin Nuvi would tell me to exit about a quarter mile after the exit and would miss address locations by two blocks. The Roadmate 1412 has a great split screen showing how to exit and where to turn while the right side of the screen remains real time. Sound is clear and it reroutes with missed turns. A trick to seeing the whole route is to press and hold the “zoom out” button. This unit has POI categories that are adequate for my needs. None of the units were totally up to date on POIs. I found this unit to be the best to meet my traveling needs on unfamiliar roads at night and with poor visibility. It shows and announces street and exit names which I find to be a plus.
