TomTom GO 730 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Review from Salesman john. Beware of outdated maps, So the unit arrived clean and without any scathes or marks. The big problem with Tom Tom refurbished uinits is that they have a very inconsistent map update policy. TOM TOM support stated that refurbished units DO NOT come with “Latest Map Guarantee”. Then they stated that some unit ship with a card that allows you to get the latest maps. I guess that I was unlucky!
For a company that wants to be a leader, then you would think that they would have a consistent policy when selling refurbished units. I believe that all refurbished units should be updated to the latest maps when they are refurbished. The maps on my unit were over a year old! The Tom Tom support supervisor stated that he has seen them as old as 2007. The support people were nice enough, but had their hands tied when resolving the issue. This is more of a sales and operation issue.
Buyers beware! There is no guarantee on what version of maps you will receive. You could be lucky and get a unit that allows you to get the latest maps or NOT. In summary, not a good way to build a quality name in the industry.
